Recipe: Rice Pudding

I was pleased to stumble across a recipe for rice pudding a couple of weeks ago. Though I am not much of a dessert person, this one has all sorts of comforting childhood associations, particularly with my grandmother, so I had to make it

You know what? Tastes really do change. I don't like the stuff much at all -- way too goopy and sweet. (Don't know what I was expecting, since puddings are supposed to be goopy and sweet, but there you go.) However, your children love it, and as it's so extremely easy to make, I thought you might all like the recipe. It's also relatively healthy, as far as goopy-sweet desserts go...  

Ingredients:
1/2 cup uncooked white rice
1/3 cup sugar (can be white or brown)
1/4 cup raisins
6 cups milk
 

Method:
Put it all in a crockpot.
Stir well, so the rice doesn't stick to the bottom.
Put the lid on, turn to low.
Walk away for 5 - 7 hours.

It may, when you return, still look a bit liquid-y. It will firm up as it cools. It can be eaten hot, warm or cold. You can sprinkle cinnamon on top if you like.

This makes a surprising amount, and as it's pretty dense, a quarter-cup serving is more than enough for the kids, usually.
