Work is Play, Play is Work

One day last week, while the younger two were napping, the rest of us repaired to the porch, me with a book and a cup of tea, the older three with a bucket of sidewalk chalk. All was going well, the children chattering happily as they scribbled on the walls, while I enjoyed my book, the break, and my tea.

When I checked their progress a few pages later, I discovered that the children had strayed past my side of the porch, and had diligently covered my neighbour's half of the semi with chalk scribbles, too. Frank is a cheerful and relaxed neighbour, but still, you don't want to take advantage.

Thank goodness chalk cleans up so readily. Thank goodness toddlers love to feel competent and capable!
If being competent and capable means they get to play with water??? Well. It just doesn't get much better!
A bowl of water and three clean rags gave them a whole new fun activity ... and allowed me to read several more pages in my book.

This is what we call a win-win.

Teeeeeamwork!
