A Grampa is Born
Stephen would like to introduce you to Aliyah Jane, born September 12, 2011.
She's not sure what to think of the world yet, but Grampa knows what to think of her. Awwwww...

Tree in Progress
You may or may not have see our tree. There is a tree on my dining room wall. A tall tree, to which we are/will be affixing leaves of various sorts, leaves that we will collect and press as we walk around the neighbourhood, leaves that we will create using different craft techniques. Our first venture into creating leaves, leaf rubbings, went home last week.
Anyway. The tree is made of several pieces of fingerprint paper, filled with a gloppy mix of brown and white liquid tempera, and a dollop of back tempera powder. The resulting paint was thick. THICK. See???
Nora likes finger-painting!
Dominic is not at all sure about it. Getting his hands that smeared up is rather worrisome. Still, better to participate and get goopy than have clean hands and be left out!
Ella likes finger-painting, too. Drop the paint on a big piece of paper, and she totally gets into the smearing zone.
Those of you who haven't seen the tree should step into the dining room and have a gander!

Ring around a Rosy
Three toddlers, a field, a tree, and a lovely sunny fall day.
Around and around the tree they go, Dominic as song-leader.
And the song? "Ring around a rosy", of course. Around and around and around.
Kept them occupied for a good 16 minutes. So cute!

In the neighbourhood
We walk in our neighbourhood all the time. Many of the sights are familiar and welcome -- the house with the stone frog, the house with the stone husky, the house with the friendly cat.
And then once in a while, we see something new and different and COMPLETELY UNEXPECTED! This would fall into that latter category...
Look! A frog army!
Look! A frog army!
(Are they hunting the Hulk, or is he General Hulk, head of the Frog Army?)
Or maybe the real point of interest is that snake. They seem to be a little alarmed...
If you walk around the neighbourhood with your eyes peeled, you just never know what INTERESTING things you might discover! For now, the house with the plague of frogs is top of that list!
