Four fascinated toddlers. One laptop. What is the big attraction?
It must be exciting, right? Probably something glittery to catch their eyes. Glittery or bright, or maybe it has a lively song with a nice, strong beat.
Right?
Wrong. There is no song-and-dance, no bright lights, no shiny sparky things. There is no music, no beat, in fact, nothing catchy at all. They are watching a video, mind you. A 10-minute video, which they watched from beginning to end. An 10-minute video showing a soft-voiced, slow-spoken, low-key woman explain in a very understated way...
how to make peanut butter balls.(Which you all enjoyed later this same day. Weren't they yummy???)
After they'd watched this through to the sweet and sticky end, Dominic perused the menu of thumbnails and asked, with great eagerness, to watch "THAT one!!" I was about to put lunch on the table and quite willing to buy myself another few minutes of kid-free time. We'll call it Educational Television, shall we?
So now Dominic not only knows how to make chocolate-coated peanut butter balls, but also just-like-store-bought peppermint patties.
The boy has good taste.
:-)
