Cool-seeking 2

Once again we leave the house in search of air conditioning. This day's expedition (which occured on Wednesday, I think) was supposed to be to Dairy Queen, but when we arrived at quarter to ten we discovered that it doesn't open until eleven. You'd think that after fifteen years in the neighbourhood, I'd know that. Hm. But that's okay, because Tim Horton's is right across the street!

I rarely give the children cookies and other nutritionally dubious sweet treats. Even when we bake, we're most often producing banana bread, muffins, and the like. But a trip to Tim Horton requires Timbits.

Willa appreciates the spherical beauty of a jam-filled, sugar-coated sweetie. And really, that's about all she did with it. She also appreciated the way it tore into bits, and the lovely feel of the jam as it smeared around the tray, but the flavour? I don't think she got that far...

And Dominic? While I think he did actually ingest some, what he appreciated most about his Timbit (old fashioned, no glaze) was its sculptural possibilities.

Look! Impale it with your finger, and you have ... an umbrella? a flag? a roof? Whatever it is, it pleases the boy!
