Specifically, evaporation. They should all know that word now. With a little repetition, it will be a permanent new addition to their vocabularies!
We'd been talking about why it's particularly important to drink water when it's hot outside. How our bodies cool themselves by sweating, and how we need to drink water, not just to cool our insides (Eliana's suggestion), but so our body can make sweat out of it.
That sweat doesn't make you hot(Adam's thought), but that it's actually cooling you down!
And that whole idea called for a hands-on demonstration of the cooling effects of evaporation. (My definition: "when the air sucks up the water". You may have a better one...) We evaporated water off our arms many, many times this morning. Many, many, many times, and, despite the sober faces in this particular picture, it was a gleeful and fascinating experience. All 264,538 times. (Except this one. Go figure.)

Evaporation. More important than you thought!
